Charlene's Soul Food

Welcome!
Every meal should be a special time. Breaking bread together is one of the sacred times in our lives. In our "rush-rush" world we have neglected that time. In our convenience world we have become "disconnected" from our food sources. Milk and meat and eggs and seafood come from animals; breadstuffs come from the wheat, oats, corn and rye that grow in the fields. Similarly, our vegetables grow and take nourishment from the earth. None of these things grows in packaged, sterile plastic wrap. Someone laboured to prepare the soil for planting, someone tended and someone harvested the good things that grew. What arrives on our tables has been lovingly cared for along the way - the fruit of the earth, prepared by human hands. Christians believe that: "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof..." Psalm 24:1 Therefore we remember to give God thanks and praise for our "daily bread." Blessings to all who venture here and who take seriously the food that sustains their bodies.

Likewise our souls require nourishment. In this world of both scepticism and cynicism and spiritual hunger, people find themselves divorced from the sacred, divorced from the Creator. The things we turn to to fill the void in our lives leave us starved for meaning, hungrier than before. I invite those who are thirsty and hungry to "Come to the waters... come buy and eat... come buy wine and milk without money and without price... Incline your ear and come to Me [says the Lord], Hear, and your soul shall live." Isaiah 55:1, 3 Find a Christian community and go there to become part of the family of God, get yourself a Bible and read it. Do not stay outside the Door [Jesus said: "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." - John 10:9 and "And I say unto you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." Luke 11:10].
